　　This study investigated the impact of a firm’s top leader (i.e. CEO or Chairperson) gender on firm acquisitions. We propose that female top leaders face more power loss concerns than male top leaders because of the negative stereotypes and prejudice associated with a female leader rather than a male leader. We further propose that such higher power loss concerns prompt female leaders to engage in more acquisitions to cope with such concerns. In addition, the effects of a female top leader on firm acquisitions are weakened by female representation in the firm’s upper-echelon but strengthened by leadership instability. Data based on Chinese listed firms provide support for our arguments.

　　鲁倩，现为南京大学商学院工商管理系助理教授，博士阶段就读于新加坡国立大学商学院，在此之前于betway必威获得本科学位，南京大学商学院获得硕士学位。主要研究方向包括企业负面事件、企业社会责任、高管团队、公司治理等。
